Although I had previously submitted my request to be a vendor at the local green market, due to family constraints I have never been able to follow through. I have submitted another application in hopes that I can get a spot to go sell some of the thousands of things I have sewn over the years.
I am excited at the potential to sell some of these items so they can be used by people who want them. Furthermore, I am equally excited to be able to be out in public meeting people who are like-minded and trying to make a difference in our environment by keeping it green!
More Than zipper bags!
I have sewn cosmetics bags, pencil cases, inhaler bags, epi-pen bags, and any kind of zipper bag that exists. Anyone who knows me probably has at least one bag that I have made.
But I sew so much more than zippy bags. If it is a quick sew, is super useful, or looks cute, I will try to make it. If I can’t find a pattern, I can usually make my own without much trouble.
So, what do I offer that might be useable at the green market? Well, let me share!
I often frequent the many thrift shops here in my town. I usually look for items that are not selling, are discounted to be cleared, or they are going to be tossed. I take those items and turn them into useful items like reusable shopping bags, tote bags, BOHO crossbody bags, beach bags, or the like. It prevents the items from going to the landfill and gives them an opportunity to be useful again.
Update Soon…
I hope to hear by the end of this next week if I will be allowed to sell.
I have gotten all my ducks in a row… insurance, tent, and tent weights, tables, signs, you name it, I have it ready to go! I am ready to make this happen!
I spoke to the gal who runs the market south of me and she said I should hear by this next Thursday. We shall see if I will be getting up early on Saturdays for a while. Fingers Crossed!
