This week will be the fourth week I will be selling at the Green Market near me. I was so stoked when I was approved to be able to sell there. I always enjoy the folks there and have had it in my mind for a long time that I would like to try it. I was so pleased that my sewn items have been well received by the patrons of the market.
It was nice that several of the vendors at the market came by and gave me tips on how to improve my setup and make it a lot easier on myself. Originally I had a couple of huge wire racks that I had to drag out and set up, but they took up way too much room. They also made it next to impossible to see into the tent to see what I had for sale.
And let’s not even talk about how heavy they were! I had to have my husband come to put them up and move them around. Now I have a simple setup. I just hang shower or curtain rods from the tent and hang all the bags from those. It is really so much easier!
Of all the sales that I have made over the past few weeks, the most popular item, by far, is the cellphone bags. We are located within walking distance of the beach, and everyone with a phone can use a bag to put their phone in while they take a walk on the beach. I make so many different styles of cell bags that it is easy for anyone to find one they like. After the second week, I started getting phone calls asking for more styles that are senior citizen-friendly so the folks can get the phone out easily. I have started adapting them a bit to help them out. Overall though, they are just popular.
I look forward to this week at the market because the weather is finally turning and it is supposed to be cooler. The one thing that prevents me from selling in the summer is the heat here in Florida. I can not stand how hot it gets and I will not subject myself to the torture of standing or sitting outside when it’s almost 100 degrees!
I absolutely love where I live, however, I am getting older and do not like feeling the heat in summer. Next year I am going to start taking the show on the road. I plan to take my selling up North to the upper half of the US to sell at a few Green Markets up there.
I have already obtained the licenses and insurance needed to do so. I can hardly wait for May to get here!
Well, I am going to close this post. Thank you for stopping in to read about my adventures. I will post more again soon. Have a great day wherever you are.
